I won't say sorry Smarty, because there will be 3 approvals in its place. That UW saw the 80 cards and was like No Way Man!! 🤣

How much did Wells Fargo think was too much?

I have cards with Chase, Capital One, Citibank, Discover, American Express, Synchrony, US Bank and Barclays.

When done with my two year gardening stint next year, I will apply to Bank of America and Wells Fargo to complete my inventory of top ten bank cards.  I've about $66,000 in credit lines.  I doubt any issuer will think that's too much.

@YogurtFan This was me. I couldn't find an American Express, Barclays, and Synchrony card to add to my list. What cards do you have?

Re: Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card - Denial ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I do wonder about business strategy in card issuance.  If I were a bank and saw an applicant with extremely low utilization, I'd consider the signup bonus and rebates against the swipe fees.  If someone consistently gets a 3% rebate, the bank cannot make money.  The only reason that I can think of is that issuing a card to a so-called "deadbeat" helps the bank pad its number and present a lower percentage of delinquent customers.  Stock analysts use such data to make their recommendations.

@M_Smart007  bummer.

Thanks for the mention.

I thought that I had seen something that customers could slice down to as fine as $100 and not $1,000...

Hi @NoMoreE46 ,

The rep I spoke to said;  .. "The computer would allow all but $1K to be moved. would I like to procede?"

WF has changed some things, when I had applied for the Autograph, I also called in for the usual "SP CLIs",

but his time was different ..they said the computer now decides, and we cannot tell you if HP or SP.

I can tell you that they tried to pull TU, as I got the "Blocked" credit inquiry alert".

Also got a letter stating to unlock my reports and call them   ..ya right!Smiley Tongue

Sorry WF,  you are not pulling my report, you already have the SP version.Smiley Very Happy

so see above likely they want a piece of that debt and interest off of it.

Your reasons are exactly how I see WF. I never bother asking them for CLI on my 3 cards with them. None of the accounts even have a CLI button, haha. However, whenever they did auto credit increases they were always at times when I put heavy spend on the cards and temporarily carried balances. They are also one of my banks so at least there is some flexibility with payments and transfers.

@M_Smart007  - I am pretty sure that its their loss and not yours. That just weird but I am noticing thats how the credit game goes. You never know.

Congrats on all the other cards though and overall profile- quick question. I see the inquiry you posted shows a removal date - what do you use to monitor credit. I dont think I have that option on the MyFico monitoring.

pretty sure that's experian's credit monitoring website

The experian app especially has a bunch of really nice sorting options which makes figuring out /12,  /24,  5/24 very easy
