Wells Fargo Propel App Pending

So i applied like 2 hours ago and called the 800 number to check the status and it said declined due to my report being frozen. I unlocked my EX prior to apping thinking they would pull that, but they actually tried to pull EQ (Im in Socal). I then unlocked my EQ and the CSR pushed the app to underwriting. I then received a call from Wells Fargo asking some verification questions and a text code. Everything went well but the CSR said the app would then be pushed to the next department and I'd get an answer in less than 48 hours. Is this the typical process?

Wells Fargo controls their application process.  It is straight forward.  All you can do is work with Wells Fargo.  If you get denied, in worst case, you can reapply in the future.  I don’t know how long Wells Fargo requires before reapplying.

Credit card applications are super easy and the easiest of all credit products to get.  

Each bank has their own way of doing things internally.  Most CC issuers are super easy to deal with for getting credit.  I can’t comment for all, such as the smaller banks like Simmons which had a lower flat rate geared towards everyone which I have heard has tougher underwriting standards, but the vast majority of institutions have very loose standards, mostly based on stated income and credit check.  Can’t comment on credit limits but Wells Fargo is likely accepting a lot of customers for this card.

Yea all i can do is wait for them to complete their review. I just figured if they were calling to verify information, it was because they were willing to approve the app and complete it there and then. Atleast thats how it went with Chase. I guess Wells Fargo at times pushes the app to different departments.

I never dealt with Wells Fargo’s application process before so I don’t know what is normal for them.  Some firms can and do call back to confirm information and have even made activation process requiring you to speak to someone where normal procedures haven’t worked even with a high credit score. Usually I would get an instant approval but a small few have required me to speak to people and eventually the card gets approved and activated.  

I wouldn’t think a blocked credit bureau would be an issue if you let them know what happened already and they do a manual review after it is unblocked.  But I would assume this would add additional time in the process.  Most banks use computer review to instantly screen credit applications and the analysts deal with the more difficult cases.

My app went pending as well.  When I received the verification call they asked me the standard questions and told me what I was on the line that I had been approved.  Best of luck to you OP.

OP, my application went into pending status as well. The only difference is I do not have any CRs frozen.

Later throughout the day I received a call from the verifications department and they routed the application to UW. I found out I was approved the next day. Hopefully yours has a positive outcome!

Thanks for the advice and encouraging comments. I called earlier this morning and the CSR i spoke to was very polite and informed me that i was approved for a SL of $8,500 which seems crazy considering people with better profiles are getting declined. I also just got the alert in MYFICO for the EQ inquiry. Seems they may have pulled fico 9, which i guess some people are alluding to. That score is 709. 1 inquiry on EQ. 4/24 or 5/24 if you count AU. AAOA: 8 years. 

I also asked if expediting the card was possible but she mentioned that once the card is approved that its not possible.

Congrats on the approval OP and decent SL! Typically, unless you have the UW finalizing any last details on the approval, that's the only time you could request expediting the CC. That being said, I just got mine today and I was approved last Wednesday.

It took about ~24 hours. You'll be prompted for paperless statements and benefits of the card when you log in and click on it.
