What are the Best Cards for 760 Score?

I have been working on my credit since 2015 and I have seen my score jump from 580 to 760. I got several collections and erroneous info taken off. This week my EX is 760, EQ 771 and TU 744. I have Discover IT 2200, Two Cap ones 1000 and 7000 and smaller ones that all bring it to a SL of 11200 with 6% Uti.

Now I want to app for a new card and I have prequal for Citi Double Cash and Amex Delta Gold. The thing is now that i have great scores, I want to app for cards that I can use for a long time like the Amex Plat or Chase Sapphire Preferred. Which cards will you suggest I apply for?

I would stay away from AMEX unless you are targeted for the 100k SUB for the platinum as once you are on their accounts, its very difficult/impossible for you to ever get that.  You can check on cardmatch.com as there has been a new round.  I currently have a few AMEX but not the vanilla platinum and not offered because of it.  So my recommendation is to not go the AMEX route until you get the 100K.  I would go for the Reserve due to the 5/24 rule.  Or if you want to get on Chase's rader, freedom unlimited or freedom until the reserve.

EX: 765
EQ: 760
TU: 758

Discover it 6/2014 -> $14900
Citi Costco 8/2014 -> $2100
AMEX EDP 2/2017 -> $2000
Chase CFU 6/2017 -> $5000
Chase IHG 7/2017 -> $2400
Chase SW Priority 9/2017-> $2000
Chase SW Premier 3/2018 -> $5000
AMEX Platinum 3/2018 -> NPSL
AMEX BBP 5/2018 -> $9000
Citi AA Biz 7/2018 -> $5000
Barclays AA Biz 7/2018 -> $2500
AMEX SPG Biz 9/2018 -> $10000
Citi Premier 10/2018 -> $5500

Avianca Vuela 11/2018 $5200
Chase Sapphire Preferred 01/2019 $6700

A good card for one person may be worthless to the next. You need to tell us about your spending. Do you travel? Domestically, international? Theme parks, movies? How much do you spend on groceries or gas? Do you shop on Amazon or at wholesale stores?

Agreed.  The CSR(great card)mentioned above would be nothing more than a expensive paperweight for me.  I've had green checkmarks for a long time but 0 interest in ever applying.

Re: What are the Best Cards for 760 Score?

Hey!

To begin with, I'd like to say that I currently do not have any of these 2 cards but they are on my list (at least one of them, haha!)

CSP: The Chase travel portalis really easy to use and to transfer points so that's a plus. With this card you could use the travel credit towards any aspect of your trip not only "incidental airline fees". I know that some people will say "but you can buy gift cards (as some of them code as airline purchases) and get reeimbursed" but well, what if you don't have to do that, wouldn't it be easier?! Also, the annual fee is $100 cheaper.

The multipliers are good, I mean, nothing impressive but good. Visa works WAY better when you travel internationally and also, the multipliers work on internation purchases. The categories are pretty broad in a way that many things categorize as "travel" which is pretty cool.

50k sign up bonus isn't too bad as you can transfer them to partners and get WAY more value out of your points but, if you don't want to deal with that, you can use Chase's travel portal and redeem points at a 1.5 rate which is OK (you can get a lot more value, like I said, transferring to partners). In case it matters, the card is made of metal but like, not really, haha! It's not as heavy as the Amex Plat and it kinda bends pretty easily. It is still metal but with two "plaques" of plastic (kind of like a sandwich).

With this card you do get Priority Pass Membership lounge access and you can bring up to 2 guests for free but Priority Pass lounges are not as good as the Centurion lounges (read down below).

Amex Plat: The multipliers suck. I mean, you get 5x back on airplane ticks but that's it, then you get 1x on everything else. You get acces to the Centurion Lounge (which is probably why I would get this card... Maybe). This lounge is exclusive to Amex Plat cardholders and, of course, Centurion cardholders, but that's obvious. As far as I know, this lounge is amazing and you get amazing service and good once in there so depending on your travel habits, it could be worth it (make sure you check to see if your local international airport has one!)

The card is thick! It is not like the Chase's Ritz Carlton (not open for new applicants anymore - please come back, btw (I mean, seriously, please)) which was a thick piece of metal like 22g, I believe but the Amex Plat is still a pretty solid piece of metal, if it matters, it is way heavier than the CSR. Actually, the CSR weights the same as the CSR.

With this card is also get the Amex fine hotels collection (I don't know if that's the actual name of the program but still) and you also get hotel status with a couple of them actually.

The multipliers for this card don't work internationally but as it doesn't have any multipliers (excluding the 5x on travel), its all the same but be careful, Amex doesn not work as well as Visa (CSR) in other countries!

For this card I would definitely wait for the 100k signup offer, try cardmatch.com and see if you've been targeted for this offer otherwise I'd wait. That doesn't mean "wait and get the CSR" (haha) I mean, just wait for this offer to come up! Its normally a targeted offer.

I could literally spend hours typing here but no, my ice cream is melting as I type this so I'll stop right here, I bet more people will join us and help you as well but take these aspects in consideration when making your decision! I hope I was helpful!

Re: What are the Best Cards for 760 Score?

Follow Chase Rewards or AMEX rewards but watchout for 5/24 so I'll say target Chase first but as aforementioned contributor said select card based on spending habits and expectations to maximize benefits
