I'm finally (think I'm) ready to apply for CSP. My only concern is inquiries. I bought a car in November of 2022. Between the two dealers I visited, it resulted in 18 inquires over 10 days. The dealer shopped the application out to so many major banks and even small credit unions I hadn't even heard of in other states.
My score has recovered but I was declined for a CLI from another lender due to excessive inquiries. But other than that car loan pull spree I only had one other inquiry in the past two years.
While my score is where I want it to be I don't know if I should just wait until December when these 18 inquies fall off my report.
Chase looks at opened credit card accounts (including store cards) not inquiries as part of its 5/24 calculation.
All lenders count inquires... maybe you're asking how inquiry sensitive Chase is?
They seem to be pretty committed to their 5/24 rule, so it might be safe to say they're not sensitive to inquiries like Citi, or USB. Not to say that they don't mean anything, but they've shown to be more concerned about the number of approvals over 24 months.
A lot of this also has to do with a person's profile as well. When it comes to a definitive answer on Chase's sensitivity to inquires, I don't think anyone is going to be able to give you a definitive answer...
Well, except for maybe the all knowing, Wizard of Odd...
The thing with Chase is that if you were declined for excessive inquiries you can call in for reconsideration and plead your case to an analyst empowered to immediately override the autobot's denial. The info on your credit report would align with your explanation that 18 of those inquiries were because you didn't realize that the car dealer's loan officer was going to shotgun your car loan application to a whole bunch of lenders.
