So I messaged my school's credit union to try to find out if membership was a hard or soft pull and they responded by saying its actually a debit report? Never heard of this before so can someone give me some insight into what this is and if it shows up on my credit report as a hard pull? Also the credit union is IUCU or Indiana University Credit Union.
They might be referring to ChexSystems? If you go there you can see all the banks you've had a relationship with. You can get a free report.

I've heard of Chex, but never have pulled a report? What could possibly be bad on a Chex report? And I'll pull my report today to see what's on it and post back with some info on it.
For me personally, it showed all the banks I had accounts with, my adresses, and a check that came back returned. That was my bad, I wrote it thinking it would take a few days to post. I did not know it existed. It was nice to see so I know what is correct and what is not.
I just ordered my report online, but it said that it's going to be mailed to me? Is that correct?
Yes it is correct.
