A few months back, before I started to read this board, I didn't know my score and randomly applied all over the place. I racked up five hard pulls, including two (even though I only applied once) from NFCU. I am a member and I would really like a relationship with them, but how long should I wait. At the time my scores were sub-600, but are recovering nicely. At what point should I reapply? Waiting is no problem.
Also, are score cards weighted differently than bank cards?

Hi BranchBoss
Sorry we need some addl info. Did any of the HPs result in CCs? Were they declines? If yes, what were the reasons? If approved, are they bank cards or store cards, their CLs, and your UT? Why were you declined for NFCU? What are your FICO scores now? What does your profile look like -- any baddies/derog, BK? What is your AAOA? Not trying to be nosy, just need more info to offer an educated guess. Yes, it's better to have bank cards vs store cards.
Well that all depends on how the OP means 'weighted' differently. In terms of everything related to your credit scores; utilization, AAoA, etc, store cards are the exact same as Visas, MasterCards, American Express and Discover. Only on a manual review might they be viewed differently.
The rest of your post is exactly right. Need more information to give an informed opinion.
BranchBoss, first off, congrats on your NFCU membership. It's a nice organization to be part of, and now that you're here, you've got a heck of a combo working for you.
I'm a member myself but haven't applied for a CC yet, so I kind of have a similar question in my head. Do you actively use the checking account/savings account? I haven't, so I suppose I'd like to ask the others here if my length of membership matters when I go to apply for a CC if I haven't been active with my accounts? I'm not sure if it applies to the OP, but it may apply to others who dont use NFCU as their primary bank. Thanks
