I'm looking to get a CLI on my Discover it card. Currently the limit is 650... lol...
My other cards are a Bank of America card at $5200, and an Amex that I just got a 3x CLI on ($6000 now). All of my cards were opened this year, since I'm only 18...
My 8th Discover statement just posted, should I wait until Amex reports the new credit limit, or does it not matter? I don't want a hard pull, btw.

I would say try their automated system. If you are eligible for a SP increase you will get it.
I have the student version of the card, so the automated system doesn't work...
I called in and they said that I couldn't get a increase without a hard inquiry. Any idea when I can be eligible with a soft inquiry?
Do you think it would help if I called a credit analyst (backdoor number)?

I do not have experience with student card but I would say there is no harm in trying the backdoor number. The worst they can do is to again tell you that they will need a HP.

Here is a tale of 2 Discover cards:
1) Discover IT Student
Limit $500
APR 0% for six months
APR after that 19.99%
Extra 5% for Oct-Nov from a few retailers
2) Regular Discover IT
Limit $1000
APR 3.99% for six months
APR after that 22.99%
No extra 5%
Guess which one got a SP after 6 statements with online request? The other card has never worked the online option, chat always say HP is needed, 9 months with that card.
I hope you can get a CLI but chances are if you use the HP for another Discover you'll get a better limit than using the HP to increase your current Discover.
