Why can I only get Synchrony MC/Visas in store?

It's weird.
I too can't get a gap banana etc visa online but go to the store and do the app, boom visa approved. I won't ever app for another synch visa mc online over in the store.

This is genuinely strange... I applied for Sam's Club online and I got the MasterCard. 

My oldest two accounts are also Synchrony (Lowe's and Belk) so maybe that has something to do with it?  If I ever do decide to go for another Synchrony card, though, I'll probably play it safe and do it in store. 

I've always preferred online apps to in-person since if there's a decline it's less embarrassing... LOL.  It does make sense that they might have more confidence with in-person apps - at least initially - since ID is verified by a clerk.

So here is a question. Can you have the store card already and app for the visa in store to have both?

I know there are several people on here who have both the PLCC ("store") and the MasterCard for Sam's Club, but I think I remember seeing someone mention that with Wal-Mart it's either one or the other (this might have changed). 

As for the other Synchrony cards, I don't recall seeing anyone here report having both 'versions' for the same store (yet?).

If I wasn't gardening, I would so app in the store today but considering I can't even get a CLI right now, I doubt I would get the Visa.
