OP, 7 cards in the past six months is a lot. I mean ALOT. It's not a terrible idea in the beginning to build a thick file but understand that this screams risk to creditors. Lay low for 6-12 months and you will have a lot more success trying to increase limits.

+1  and with the ton of new accounts compared to the total number of accounts and the drastic cut in AAoA it will not make it easier now. Garden and try again in 1 year.

A more appropriate question would be:

Why does BofA not want to give you more credit?

Which prompts me to ask you a related question:

How much do you use your BofA card if at all?

BofA has been extremely generous to me and many others. Back when my highest limit was 2k, they gave me a CLI to 12k on one card.

+1.

This pretty much deserves a sticky for any bank.

Back on topic.......BofA is probably one of the more generous lenders I've seen. Their programs are not as great as Chase, Amex or Citi, but they definitely compensate by issuing higher CLs. Then again, it also depends on your income, credit history, internal score, etc.

Re: Why is BOA so stingy?

I feel ya! BOA has been stingy with me. I have banked with them for over 4 years since I opened my checking account my freshman year of college and got their student via card with a $700 limit in 2011. Three years later, even with graduatiing college in May and giving them updated salary info, it still sits at $700 and not eligible for a CLI. Ugh, the struggle Smiley Sad

Re: Why is BOA so stingy?

They've been good to me too. But I did have to take a HP to get to my current limit. At the same time, I didn't have 45k in credit already. This may be your precise problem. They may be thinking, for a college student, that's too much credit regardless of your income.

So I don't think they're stingy, I think they're wondering "why do you need so much credit?"

Stick it out since they're your oldest card. Make sure you keep that account in good standing
