X1 Application is a HP upon approval and signing up

Good day to you all.

After a few months , I finally received the X1 invitation this morning. I've been recently seeing data points of the X1 card applications being a hard pull. Its a card that I wanted to fill out the 2% cashback gap left from the end of the cashback match from discover. Is it a hard inquiry or does it depend on the user profile? (Mod cut, these types of discussions are not permitted per the myFICO Forums TOS) I've already emailed their CS email and waiting for a reply. It isn't as appealing if it will to a HP as I'd much rather get Sofi or PenFed PCR!

My profile is as follows :

DiscoverIT 10 months : $2250

Chase Amazon 4 Months : $2200

BoFA CCR 1 Month : $500

Annual Income : 20k/year

Inquiries EX 2 , TU 1 , EQ 0

Update : Went through with the app, it said soft inquiry when I put in my SSN. Denied and will get an email. I have been monitoring experian and other CRA for hard inquiry notice to make sure if they pulled my reports. This post should work as a DP.

Update 2: I got a reply from their CS team. The initial application is a soft pull, if you are denied then no additional inquiry. If you are approved and decide to sign up, they will conduct a hard inquiry. This is a similar procedure to SoFi world elite mastercard.

Re: Got X1 invitation, is it a hard inquiry?

Just FYI, it can typically take up to 24 hours for the HP to be visible or display on EX. Also, the same applies if you had been provided an approval offer, and once you accept, it's a HP -- their process changed in December 2021.
