Strangely, they stopped using the "average payment too low" message right after my 0% promo period expired. Now they're offering me a generous $400 cli. Giving it a couple more months of checking to see if if changes lol.

I run 2700-2900 and pif and all they are offering me is 250 increase. I hope you get a higher offer.  I hope I do as well.

That's got to be a computer error lol! I'd call them & tell them 250 is a joke with what you're putting through it.

Edit: Just went on my Cap1 account to chat with a rep & it said it's going to be a 15 minute wait, lol...

Re: Your average monthly payment has been too low

This was my 34 minute chat with this CSR just now after a 5-10 minute wait in the queue beforehand. I ended up closing the chat myself, which is the first time I've ever done so with any online chat. It felt like a Who's on First skit, and at one point I actually thought I was talking to one of those computer programs that converse with you by spitting out random lines of text. I realize I came across as a little Frosty the Snowman at the end, but I was going in circles with this person on whether or not they understood what I was asking, and whether or not they could actually help me.

Great to have you on chat.

How may I assist you today?

I was looking at my card ending in 0000 & checked the CLI request & it showed one available, but only $400. I've put a few 1000 $$ through the card, and was wondering if the CLI could be more than $400?

You 04:12 AM
That's less than the cli amount I got on my old Plat card I used to have with your guys & I used that card way less

CSR 04:12 AM
Let me access your account and check that for you.

CSR 04:13 AM
To start, would you please verify for me your first and last name as it appears on your card?

You 04:21 AM
status of what amount?

CSR 04:22 AM
Important Customer, We do not have that information , It depends on the information which you have provided while submitting the request.

You 04:24 AM
I didn't want a CLI of only $400 which is what it showed when I requested a CLI to see what it would give. If all you did was put through a CLI request, I'm assuming it is going to be only $400 like it showed before which I'm not looking for. I don't want to wait another 6 months after only a $400 increase.

You 04:25 AM
I have a $19k NFCU card & multiple cards from Chase/Amex higher than this.

CSR 04:26 AM
You can request a credit line increase online by choosing the "Request Credit Line Increase" link from the Services tab. When you submit your request, we'll review your information.

You 04:26 AM
Why would I waste 6 months of waiting for only a $400 increase after spending 1000's on this card?

CSR 04:26 AM
Please allow me a moment here.

You 04:28 AM
"You can request a credit line increase online by choosing the "Request Credit Line Increase" link from the Services tab. When you submit your request, we'll review your information." - I already did this. I'm asking if I can get more than the $400 offered....

You 04:28 AM
I already know how to request a CLI heh

CSR 04:28 AM
Important Customer, Let me explain you.

CSR 04:30 AM
Important Customer, The credit limit increase will depends on the information which you will provide while submitting the request.

You 04:31 AM
Yes, I know how the online CLI request works, I'm not new to credit. I'm asking if you can provide a better CLI than $400 after spending thousands on this one card. I honestly feel like you don't understand what I'm talking about here.

CSR 04:32 AM
I understand your point that you are making.

You 04:33 AM
ok, so you cant help me then, correct?

You 04:33 AM
Because you are trying to tell me how to do something I've already done multiple times

CSR 04:34 AM
Important Customer, If I had an option to increase the credit limit manually, Sure I would have helped you (25 minutes after the chat started he finally tells me he can't help me, in a roundabout way)

CSR 04:34 AM
You need to submit the request online.

You 04:36 AM
What was the point of validating all this account info & checking my account if you knew you couldn't help me, since you knew what I was asking?

CSR 04:37 AM
Important Customer, I need to access your account to give any information.

CSR 04:38 AM
I apologize for any  inconvenience this may have caused. If I had an option to increase the credit limit manually, Sure I would have helped you.

You 04:40 AM
Is there a way to leave feedback? Why not just say you can't increase a cli request instead of telling the person how to request a cli when they already know how to?

CSR 04:40 AM
Important Customer, I completely understand you point.

You 04:40 AM
I sat here in a que to get this

CSR 04:41 AM
In some cases, we can approve credit line increases immediately. Sometimes it may take a few days to process your request. If this happens, you will either receive a letter in the mail in approximately 10 business days or you can view the results online in approximately 2-3 business days. (Apparently, they can approve CL increases immediately? First they can't, now they can?)

You 04:42 AM
So now you can approve credit line increases? First you can't. now you can?

You 04:43 AM
I'll figure out how to leave feedback, or just call later today on the phone. Thanks for the help.

I got a bit Frosty towards the end after being on the phone for probably 40+ minutes total, but I felt like this person didn't understand me or was just saying whatever the 8-ball told them to say. I still don't know whether they can give higher CLI's over chat since this CSR changed their mind on whether they can or cannot. Anyone have any experience with online chat CSR's being able to approve higher CLI's immediately, like this CSR stated?

Re: Your average monthly payment has been too low

When you click "end chat" it lets you review the CSR. I hope you wrote about him. Very robo and felt like he was from another country., there was a language barrier. All he did was read and type from a script. non-human like and poor customer service.

Re: Your average monthly payment has been too low

There is a difference between utilization and usage. My take is that Capital One likes high usage, well over 10% a month, but they also like PIF and large payments. So if you use the card a lot and pay it off they will be generous with CLI's. Similarly if you have been carrying a balance and then pay it off, wait a few weeks you should be eligible for a CLI. What they don't like are: 1. not using the card much. 2. carrying a balance and making small payment.s YMMV. It seems that if you are dissatisfied with your CL Cap One is still happy to open another credit card for you.

Re: Your average monthly payment has been too low

I got mine 2000 increase at 3 months from high amount of swipes. And then PIF every few days. 200+ swipes a month. My credit steps are up soon and I'm hoping to see the same results. Didn't put a lot through it
So I don't know if it was the amount of swipes or the number of times I was paying on it. It wasn't putting a ton through it. I never went over 10% of the SL because I would always pay on it multiple times a month.

So maybe it is the amount of swipes and not how much you spend? I only swipe the card 5-10 times a month. Maybe that is the reason.

Re: Your average monthly payment has been too low

Could be. I made AU for both me and my DW. It something I read about how they like to see you using it a lot not so much the amount. So I swiped and paid on it a lot. She swipes the Sony card, I swiped the qs1 card. 4-5 coffees a day each, I'd pump my gas 10$ at a time and my truck takes 100 to fill up. I'd just do 10 every few days, smokes, lunch, I really used it. It was one of the first card I got back last year. The Sony card they raised 1500 so I researched on how to make it grow fast.
I still swipe the qs1 a lot for bs stuff. Like my mother-in-law couldn't pay her rent so I swiped it for 725. Gas here and there. Or I might use it for the first few dollars in gas. Then hang up the pump. Then put the rest on my discover. I just try to swipe it whenever I can even for a few bucks.

Re: Your average monthly payment has been too low

Yes, I have.  I have now 1 QS and 2 Venture's with 23k CL on each of them.  I've been asking for a cli now for months and get either that my fico isn't high enough or balances to credit limit is too high.  Mind you, my fico is 775 & I don't normally go over 10%.  I do owe more than the average person but my payments of 5-7k monthly would surely make up the difference?  I think they are kind of feeling things out right now & slowing up.  I have nothing on my credit report (meaning any bk, lates, etc.)  Nothing.  I do pay whenever and also on my due date.  I think the computer is set to: pick a random answer for "no".
