did i request CLI too early

I have a cap 1 quicksilver with a 500$ SL since jan 2015...i have been using and paying twice a month and always leave a zero balance. 2 days ago when the 7th statement cut my limit was raised to 750. I was honestly expecting a bigger increase and called a backdoor number to talk to acct specialist. He said since i was in credit steps it will increase to 750 but i can request a bigger cli. I then apllied for a cli and gave my income details etc.

The question i have is..since i just got a 250 auto cli...will this request be automatically rejected for asking too soon?my scores are 655 tu 652 eq and 640 ex.

it can go either way the way I see it. Since the CLI was automatic, you may be able to still be approved for your requested one. However, it could also be denied and the reason they would give you is "there was recently a change to this account."

Re: did i request CLI too early

I have a QS1 for about 2 months with a 500sl and requested a cli and got 1k and its in the credit steps program so hopefully after 6 months I get a nice bump but I will be requesting another cli after a couple months after some heavy useage.

I was kind of in the same boat as you. The Credit Steps CLI's only brought my cards up to $500 each. I contacted the EO because the LUV button kept denying me. They said it had been less than 6 months since my last CLI, but they would submit my request to an underwriter if I wished to proceed. I got a $1500 increase and another $250 increase.

Since it's a SP, you have nothing to lose. If you do get your CLI, it resets the clock to 6 months again.

I think that if they have an offer, take it. The way capitalone has dishing out the cli's, it seems like the 6 month rule is not so black and white.

Re: did i request CLI too early

I received a QS1 back in March. I applied for CLI's every month.

Last week I was finally approved for a CLI of $5000 to $5500.

I was surprised as hell but happy. I also have a Cap One Secured Platinum with $2k CL. I spend pretty heavy on these for work and pay multiple times monthly so I think my combined spend ($6k+) between the two cards was factored in?

*edit: I didn't wait for them to do an auto-CLI / credit step or whatever. I did the request manually*
