denied, countered with 22.99% 6mos free interest offer, 1K CL, eq pulled (my worst), no amazon because i used the preapproval site, took the card, spoke to rep, she said I could applly for a CLI and interest adjustment once I establish the card

So they denied your pre-screened offer but countered with another offer with a higher interest rate? That's similar to what they did to me, however I did take their counter offer and there wasn't an additional hard pull either. Sorry to hear that OP, but to be honest if you don't carry a balance the interest rate doesn't mean anything anyway. Plus you can still enroll in their double cash back, and I'm sure you can get the APR lowered eventually--maybe after building some history with them? I say take the counter offer, you already took the hard pull.

Well at least you're in. I know 1k isn't much compared to your other cards, but it will grow I'm sure. Make sure you ask to be enrolled in the double cash back program.

I guess I got lucky with them pulling TU for me; I'm in Colorado if that makes a difference. Maybe they pull from different places depending on location?

His Apr range is 12-15 so its somewhat accurante. However, it is best to get prequals with a firm number for APR, that way its a high chance of approval.

No worries here. Discover has gone from one of my lower limit cards SL 3k to one of my highest limit cards 20k!!! in 2 years. Prove to them you can handle credit and they will treat you well back. Dont worry about your apr. Once you pass 6 months call and ask about a 0% promo. I am happy with my IT card. I think you will be too.
