Re: how hard is it to get an Amex

I had a few paid for less than full balance charge offs and collections on my CR, and was approved for the Amex PRG with a 660 or so. You can wait, but they are going to look at the bigger picture, which includes your annual income and funds in other accounts, such as 401k, IRA, etc. If you really want AMEX I would suggest a charge card, like the PRG, considering your score and baddies. I believe you have a shot with those. It will more than likely cost you two HP's.

AMEX PRG - NPSL I AMEX Everyday Preferred - $34.8k I Capital One Venture - $20k I Chase Sapphire Preferred - $25.5k I Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier - $20.7k I Barclay Arrival + - $10k I Capital One Quicksilver - $10k I NFCU Flagship Rewards Visa Signature - $15k I NASA FCU - $10k I Texell FCU Visa - $5k I Chase Freedom - $9.9k I Citi Double Cash - $7.8k I Discover IT - $5k I NFCU CLOC - $15k I Total Unsecured Credit - $188,700

EQ FICO - 714 (5/24/16) I TU FICO - 772 (5/24/16) I EX FICO - 770 (5/24/16)

Re: how hard is it to get an Amex

The one i was interested in was the prg and the delta i have read that if you app within the same day like back to back they only pull one HP is this true?

I just see that since i know chase would have me black listed since of the 2 charges off that are still on my file and And boa will also. I had tried discover and since they pull EQ i still have 1 CA from 08 plus those 3 other charge offs from 08 they didnt approve me.

Any other suggestions. I dont store cards yes i know they will with utilization but i dont want a thick file based on store cards and only 2 master cards and when ever the diners reports. Or is my mind set wrong.

appreciate the help.

Re: how hard is it to get an Amex

I got my Delta AMEX at 652 EX with derogs (that didn't come off until this year; 6 years old at that time). They gave me the "we'll see if we can trust you" limit of $1,000. But then I couldn't do my 3X CLI until THIS month after I have had the card* a year due to fico score (which slipped a little below my app score and then shot up). So, you can probably get in, just know that AMEX can be...finicky.

I have rebuilt my credit i still have 3 Charge offs from BOA and Chase back from feb 2008 which they are not scheduled to come off till 02/15 its the only negative that i have 1 inquire for 2014 but i have re established credit since 12/13 with 2 cap 1 , kays since then but i opened lowes, walmart and chevron in 08/2014 . My utilization is about 48% what are chances of getting any amex fico score is 680. I have older accounts car loans and mortgages paid off back in 2006 ..so the only negatives that i have is the 3 charge offs. Do u think i have any chance. I keep getting emails for the amex everyday but i think its general email to everybody.any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest taking a long-term approach. Wait the twelve weeks until your charge offs are no longer reporting on your CRAs. By that time, your Diner's Club TLs should be posting, and I imagine that AMEX would give you a much higher starting credit line. That will be prime when 61 days later you request a 3x CLI and then have yet another solid credit line, now with AMEX.

With those Diner's Club TLs and, if you wait and get a solid starting credit line with AMEX, your overal utilization will decrease. You might even see a bump in your FICO scores. Good luck and keep us posted!

Could be worse.

You could have hit a "Ceiling" like I did when I got approved for the ED at $1,500 CL when my BSP has $12,000 CL.

Sheesh. On the plus side, I'm not alone in not being able to figure out AMEX. I'll have to decide between doing a 3X increase on my new ED at $1,000 or my existing Delta Gold to $9,000 on 5/14/15 :-/

Do the gold and move some CL over to the ED. I may close the BSP or downgrade it and when I do I'm gonna move over some/all CL to my ED.
