I last applied in end of july for it and got denied and was wondering because my score has gone up a bit since last time if i should apply again? I also have 5 inquiries on EQUI, 5 with TRANS, 14 with EXP with roughly 52% Useage down a lot since last time, also the scores were , EQUI 644,TRANS 645, and EXP was 660, what do you think should i wait longer or any other tips too? Please and Thank You!
My cents come in 2's
Pre-qual. On there website if nothing comes up move on...
And break the 700's boundary your're rite there jus a lil more push
IME the pre-qual doesn't mean crap with AMEX since I never had one and got an instant approval cold apping for $11K.
OP, Drop your UTIL down below 20% and they might consider it. This should bring your score up over 700 as well and raise your chances to start out with a better limit out of the gate with them. If I recall you should wait 90 days for the denied application to purge from their system as well before attempting again w/o an instant denial due to the prev app.
agree with Austinguy. With amex, just have a very low UTL, no recent bad remarks(best to have non at all), a score 640+ (the higher, the bigger the limit for me). No need for a prequal
It's all about the Experian data with AMEX. Your UT is way too high and your score will lock you in a bad interest rate.I waited until I was over 700 before I would apply for the PRG AMEX. That is a charge card. The problem about getting credit cards with lower FICO scores is really two-fold. First, you will most likely get a low credit line and second, your interest rate will probably not be great. Interest rates don't matter if you intend never to carry a balance, but really let's get real here things happen and people carry balances. Probably easier to get out of the low limit box than the interest rate box. I don't intend to get any additional credit cards until I am very certain that I will be offered the best interest rate. I just haven't seen much success in having a credit card issuer lower its interest rate once you are locked in even if your credit greatly improves. It's a real rip. I really do want the AMEX EveryDay Preferred because it is a great complement to the PRG but not at the risk of getting their highest interest rate and a toy limit.
My utilization just dropped to 35% and my scores are EQ 655, TRAN 659, and EXP 667. I know it is just barely under the 90 days still by a few days or so should i wait a few more days or try and apply now after the last Amex denial?
How did your scores go down by paying things down? Did you sin and app again for something else?
Actually I have no idea why they went down but I guess it didn't matter because i went and apped for amex everyday card and was approved with a 1,000 dollar limit so i am pretty darn happy right now!
