Credit Karma now shows her score to be 801 and 797..
Can she use this to apply for her own cards now ?
its been two months since we added her to our cards.
Thanks
Kind of
AU friendly banks IMO:
Discover
Amex
NFCU
Check their pre-qual pages, Discover should be easy, and Amex charge cards too, and to a lesser extent the Amex co-brands may be attainable too
I did this with my children. They were able to get Cap1 Savor1 this way. Waited a couple of months, their scores were in the high 700's as well.

How old is your child? I want to do this for my younger sister and niece and get them started extremely early. They are turning 14 and 12.
She can definitely use this to apply for cards on her own. Every FI will have different rules for how they view AU accounts. I have heard a lot of people having luck with Discover (they seem to like thin files). Apple Card is nice because you don't take a hard pull before determining if they will approve you or not. I've also heard about intermittent success with Citi. My daughter gets Citi pre-approval letters all the time thanks to being AU on my and my wife's cards (even though she's a minor).
When I turned 18 (back in October 2007), I applied for and (after manual review) received a Discover IT card, Chase Freedom card (back when there was one and the categories were whatever you happened to spend the most in), and a Citi Driver's edge. A year later, I got my first AmEx. I had a long AU history thanks to my Dad.
When it is offered, they should check the pre-qualification page.
How young are we talking here?? I'm just curious. I saw mention of 12 & 14? Can you even do that? Lol forgive my ignorance I'm just uneducated on this I guess. I have a 12 year old but I never thought to add her
Yes, I've done the same for all of my boys, started at ages 16. Once they open 1 or 2 accts of their own, I take them off my AU lists. From that point on, it's their job to maintain a healthy credit profile and to grow their own CLIs.
Like several others, I am wondering the age of the child in question.
One month? 40 years? Could be anything. That will affect our answers, mainly because there are age limits for opening a credit card in your own name (mainly to do with when a contract is legally enforceable). The next question is how a given lender weighs AU accounts. Some discount it entirely, others do not. JMO, good luck!
OP here
"child" is 20 years old lol .
she had no credit nefore this. good or bad .
added
3 capitalone cards
1 amazon chase card
the capital one cards are 10 years old accounts
the Amazon chase is 6yrs 5 months
experian says her fico 8 is 752 . ( i think thats odd since the only acounts on her credit are the AU she was added to )
scared to have her apply any where and get denied.
Thanks
Does said child have income? That would matter more than being an AU I think.
