sallie mae app?

i think this card is tough to get, but i would love to have it. i'm right around 700 TU (691 from barclay last month, util has gone down some, my EX went up 7 points when some of the util posted)

should i go for it?

i have util at 16%, TU has 15 INQ's (2 fall off by the 11th), but only 2 in the last year. i have lots of late payments, but they're all at least 45 months ago.

ALSO, if i were to app and get denied, any way i could turn around and app for an ll bean or apple card and get them to use the same HP, so i don't waste it?

EDIT - my barclay NFL card hits 6 months on the 12th - any advantage to waiting for that to happen? prob can't hurt right? i also thought waiting to see if i got an auto CLI would be a good indicator of their feelings towards me

Re: sallie mae app?

When you say lots of late payment, how many are you talking about?  Barclays is inquiry sensitive and they mostly pull TU...

i honestly don't even know - could be 30? it was before i consolidated my student loans, and some of them were late months in a row.

OK.. What was the limit barclays gave you on the NFL card?  Also, don't won't use the same pull if you get denied for the Salliemae card should you get declined.

Re: sallie mae app?

thanks  - 5k. pretty sure i was at 702 at the time. i balance transferred 4.5k to it, then used the remainder to meet the min spend. got it close to max 2 or 3 times, just under 4k on it now. haven't used it in a month or so.

OK.. What you can do is apply for the Salliemae card and if not approved, call and recon.  If they are not moved, offer to move money from the NFL card to the Salliemae to get it open.

And then later ask for a CLI...  So if you really want it, go for it.

is that a slam dunk that they'll move the limit over?

Nothing is ever guaranteed but they have done it for 99% of the people. Technically, they are not giving you a new line just taking a piece of your existing line minimizing risk.  You will be fine for it if it comes down to it as long as you have a compelling reason of why you want the card- Sallimae.
