Recently, based on what others have suggested here, I started to check the AMEX pre-approval website every month or so.
Finally, today I saw 3 pre-approvals (AMEX EveryDay, Delta SkyMiles and the Green charge card).
I was kind of surprised since my Experian FICO 8 score is 669. I also have several old chargeoffs.
Needless to say, I was surprised in a good way. Also, my experience seemed to have confirmed the theory that AMEX approval criteria are perhaps similar for all charge cards, of course with the exception of the BIG difference in their respective annual fees.
Thanks!!
congrats on the new cards. Im jealous, I have been hitting the preapproval sight once a week trying to see if im preapproved, so far nothing yet. but i feel im getting close. lolololo.
again congrats

Congrats on your Amex approvals!
You should call Amex and have them close the Green card to save $95 annual fee. The Green card is pretty much worthless since you also got the Platinum.
$95 Fee is waived the first year on the Green Card. But yeah if you got approved for the Platinum, you basically don't need the Green. The AMEX Green has been great for me, credit score was 637 at the time when I go it and I've established some nice spending power with them. As someone who's in rebuilding mode, it's been a tremendous assett to my credit profile and will be upgrading to the Gold on my 13 month anniversary.
Wonder if you can PC that to something else? And oh yeah, nicely done! 669 is right on that edge of fair and good on the FICO meter. That's my next goal score!

You can close in month 13 if you'd like. AMEX might like that better too. You'll be charged the annual fee at that point, but they'll refund it if you promptly close the card after it hits.

Just a suggestion, unless you have an upgrade offer on the green card, I would suggest you just apply for the gold and get the signup bonus. As far as PC’ing the green card, the only path there would be to PC to another charge card, which may keep you from getting the signup bonus for those cards (gold, platinum). Again, not trying to tell you your business. Just want to make sure you’re informed.
Should I try to Product Switch (PC) Green to Gold instead of closing the Green card? What are my chances of success?
As I understand, with PC to another charge card, it may not even be a credit pull or perhaps I am wrong.
Thanks!!
Congrats! Similar thing happened to me!! I applied for a gold (I only have 2 1/2 months credit hsitory since i just turned 18) and surprisingly got approved. I then decided to apply for platinum to see what'd happen then I got approved too. I ended up canceling the gold since I can just add a gold to my platinum. I also got financial reviewed the first day I received my card for trying to put a $3000 charge on it lmao. Luckily I survived it and got my account back with a 5k limit. Just don't do what I did, and make sure you take advantage of that card!! I already booked 4 flights with mine lol.

- Pulled the trigger and got approved for the Green charge card.
- About 30 minutes later (again, based on the info found here), I went ahead and app-ed for the Platinum charge card and got approved as well.

"...since I can just add a gold to my platinum..."
Two questions:
1. Could someone clarify what that means? Does it mean "adding" Gold benefits to Platinum?
2. Also, if I do cancel the Green charge card, will it report as Closed thus potentially looking negatively on my report and also impacting my AAofA?
Thanks a lot in advance!!
