So I got approved today for a BCE with an $8000 Cl. So yay me. But I'm curious if anyone has dealt with my issue. I've had a Cash Magnet card since Nov 2019 and every CLI I've put in for has been turned down. I've been stuck at $2000 on it but now all of a sudden I get $8000 on a different card. Does the cash magnet have a cap or something or am I just a victim of the vagaries of a given credit card company? CS is 700+, 3 late pymts across the board, about 5 hard inquiries still on the books.
Update 3-3-21:
So put in today for a Hilton Honors AMEX and got approved for $10,000 CL. I was amazed. I was pre-approved for these by the way. So i wanted to see what would happen and tried for the Delta Blue card. Got turned down. So no two in one day for me. I'm wondering if i tried again tomorrow if it would matter or if I should just wait 90 days and try again. The Delta Blue would be my 4th card with AMEX and I would be done.
Thats a fantastic BCE approval!
CM card doesn't have a cap, at least not at 2K. Could be the lates you have but you were just approved for 8K on another card so not sure.
There's a lot of AMEX pros here who will probably stop by and give you sound advice.
Congrats!
Congratulations on the Amex BCE new Approval!
Congratulations on your Amex BCE approval!
Congrats on the approval!
Nice SL on the BCE, congrats on that!
As for your other card, was your profile in a weaker state than today at the time you were approved for it? Based on the SL, my guess is yes. That could be holding that tradeline back. I'm not sure if Amex allows limits to be moved around, but if so you could grow your new BCE and slide some of that limit over to your older card if that makes sense for you.
Congratulations

AMEX is one of the more transparent lenders when it comes to denial reasons in most instances. What were the stated reasons they gave for denying your requests?

From what I remember it was lates and number of inquiries. My profile was weaker a year ago than today but I just don't get the change around for a different card. I recently had some inquiries drop off but otherwise not much different.
