@OCONUS wrote:I finally applied for an Amex BCP and it was turned down. I called this morning to Recon. A rep sent the application and a moment later it came back approved with 1K. The SL is very low comparing to my other cards. I thought I can replace apple card with BCP. I tried Recon the SL and they said I will have to wait and request at 3 months mark. I am not sure if a previous unpaid Amex CO of ~14k from 2016 has been factored in such a low SL.

I got this card just over a year ago and two days ago got it up to 9K. I got a 3X CLI every 6 months which is on the slower side. Many people have gotten the card to 27K within their first year. It might take me another 6/7 months but in a year and a half you'll forget that 1K SL.
Congrats on the approval!
Depending on income, It's probably the CO. I don't really see any other red flags. I bet you can grow it fast with increases every few months.

Congrats on your approval!

@OCONUS do you have very many recent applications/new accounts?
it doesnt look like you do. from what i can see, your profile looks solid.
id bet money that they are still factoring in your old DQ into their internaal scoring model for approval.
and that CSR was WRONG, you can ask for a 3xcli at 61 days or after 2 staetments cut. CSRs these days are downright awful.
on the bright side, that card could grow very quickly from 1k to 3 k to 9k in 9-12 months.
I can def see you being denied CLIs though from amex "based on previous cancelled accounts by american express"
that's how the role. this is why I don't use Amex. they are so full of ish. Ill never forget telling them I was traveling to NYC and they STILL put a fraud alert on my card and denied me in one of the most expensive clothiers in NYC in columbus circle. I wasn't embarrassed but their dumbselves should have taken note when I called to them I traveled!!!
at least you got back in! congrats again!
