Got a partial CLI approval from AMEX for my BCP card. Currently at $20K and asked for $35K, which was countered at $29K (honestly I was hoping for a nice round $30K). Usually when I get a counter-offer, that's it. However this time they said if I provided 3 months of bank statements, they may consider the full amount. No thank you, I'll take the $29K.
My plan is to close my $3K Magnet card; relocating $1K to the BCP to make it an even $30K, and the remining $2K to my Delta card to get that one to $5K.
Nice increase, congratulations!
Follow up... got the AA letter and I appear to have reached some kind of limit with them. In addition to the statements request, here's what seems to be the real reason. There was no reference to any credit report being pulled, though I see they SP EX on the 17th.
Here's the reason we made the decision
We reviewed several pieces of information when making this decision, including your history with us.
We made this decision for the following reason(s):
The amount requested exceeds allowable limits.
Thought I'd add this as an additional DP
Congratulations on your Amex BCP CLI! +9K is a respectable increase and I would also leave it there if that happened to me.

Appreciate the additional info. I would take this to mean that based on their analytics of you and what they see in your profile, they're at their max exposure for you at the moment within that group of products without more information to go on (such as the requested bank statements). Given more time and good customer vibes (usage) from you, they would likely raise that exposure without any further requests until you hit the next threshold they may set.

I have the same card. I attempted cli just over 90 days and denied for the same. No counter offer though. Just over the 6 month period, I attempted again. Instant approval for additional 7,400.00. Congratulations on your partial. Next round should be more promising. Good luck.
Congrats!
congrats on the cli
