AMEX Gold - Instant Approval

Decided to bite the bullet after going back and forth the last few days. I already have a relationship with AMEX with my Hilton Honors card, although that one rarely gets used. No bad marks. I think I spent about $5k on it total during 2024. Household income is $105k, all three credit scores are 790+ (sometimes over 800). No deragotory marks at all, average age of accounts is 7 years, 3 months.

This card will be my standard grocery + restaurant card for me and my wife going forward. I think will be able to meet the $6k spend in 6 months to get the 60k points sign-up bonus without issue considering our monthly grocery bill is somewhere around $600-800 for our family of four. I am a little sad though as I just went back to the AMEX website to check some categorical information, and my targeted sign-up bonus was upgraded to 75k

Congrats on the approval! Hopefully some of the other benefits work for you (Uber, dining) to help offset the AF.

feel free to make a post and ask what the current highest offers are for amex cards, you could have gotten 90 or 100k , next time though

there's always 175k amex points waiting on you if you get the plat in the future!

Yeah, I already got the card added to my wallet so I was able to use it at Dunkin this morning and Five Guys for lunch 

I am going to make sure that annual fee is complete taken care of for sure. I will see how we do with MR regarding the amount of groceries + restaurants we go through.

Don't be too concerned about the MR targeted bonus. There will always be options to earn more points. 

I did my Plat and best I found was 100k + 9 bonus points on restaurants for first 6 months via a Resy offer. A few days later I was looking at offers for other cards and it then showed the 125k for the Platinum after not being there when I was ready to apply.
