I seriously had zero plans of leaving the garden period during 2016 since I just added 2 AMEX (PRG & BCP) and 2 Chase cards (AARP & Marriott) in the month of December after gardening for about 9 months BUT I got an "invitation to apply" for the AMEX Platinum with the 100K MR points offer. It just laid on my desk area for a couple of weeks since I literally got it a week after getting the PRG. I did a little research to see it fhe AF was "worth" it to me and my family. We do have several trips planned this year and plan to travel to Europe in the next couple of years and airfare is huge for a family of 4. I talked it over with my husband and decided that this card would be very useful if only for the first year or so due to the $200 air credit. Plus those 100K MR points would really go nicely with the 50K that I got from the PRG. So I apped on Saturday and it went pending. I gave it until Monday and then I called in. A nice fellow asked me a couple of verification questions (address and what card I apped for) and said I was approved. I got the card last night and have already started working on that 3K spend! It's kind or ironic that I apped 3 or 4 times for an AMEX card just a year ago and now have 3. 
I will not keep both charge cards but I have a year to figure out which one is most useful to us if either.
I found some tips on FT such as enrolling in Priority Pass select program, enroll in airline fee credit program and choose carrier, apply for Global entry ($100 reimbursement) or TSA PreCheck ($85 reimbursement), enroll in Boingo, enroll for Avis, Hertz and National car rental privileges, activate SPG Gold Status, enroll in Hilton Gold status, and a subscribe to a couple of newsletters if interested. Am I missing anything?
Congrats on your approval! I just got approved for the AMEX PRG 50K offer as well. Since my first Amex after BK 7, I will wait and see if I get a nice invitation like yours as well
