Welcome to the Amex family!!
@MyLoFICO wrote:I stepped out of the garden today to try AMEX. My scores got a bump last night after my UTIL dropped from a few PIF's that hit. After seeing all the recent approvals I figured it was time. I needed a card I could BT some of the high interest weight I have right now to and while this will help, the SL is not high enough. But, the glass is not half empty, I am in with Amex and that was a tough nut to crack for me. I intend to try to add the PRG as well but I think I will wait for a better bonus. I guess I have a reason to go read the 3X CLI thread now. I'll happily go do that.
BCP $2000 SL 23.74%
Not the best but its a start. The $100 for $1000 spend won't hurt either.
Edited: App'd the Everyday and got it too. $500 SL with the credit steps everyone is getting. lol. I wonder if that is an ED thing only to push the card?
YAYYY!!!!!
I remember you saying on another post you could never get any love from them, now you got 2!!
Now, ride those puppies hard and make regular payments... Don't try for a CLI on either one for 181 days from account opening. Don't listen to these day 61 people, you won't get it. Not with the low SL's... You should be able to try for your first 3X on the last week of October. Only one CLI per account, not card, so choose wisely which one you wanna bump.
Congrats on joining the AMEX family, I love my cards and I'm sure you will too!!

Thanks, it feels good to be able to login to their site for my own account. lol I had a chance to sleep on it and let "new card" fever subside and I decided not to worry with the PRG. I need to let these 4 cards settle and my score to recover and see the effect on my AAoA. My singature is updated with my CCT numbers from a few minutes ago. So far its not taken as big a toll as I thought. I hope it stays that way.
I am so incredibly happy to hear about your approvals. Over the next few months, I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised with your scores inching up. Especially as you get lower and lower on your util. Don't be discouraged if you do see a little dip after these cards report, but with the util going down you may actually never see that happen. I will very respectfully disagree with Gardener76 on not going for the 61 day CLI. I mentioned in your application thread that my wife also got the $2,000 SL on her EveryDay (AU on 3 of my cards since 2003, spitting distance from 800, high income, she only had 7 or 8 cards including the AU ones, 1 TU INQ in 2 years, AAoA was like 13 years and most were reporting limits of $10-$25k at the time). Did a BT that nearly maxed it out, paid a little on it, got a 2x at 61 day mark to $4k, did a $2000 purchase on it, paid a little on it (no rush at 0% intro), and 181 days later got the 3x to $12k. Even if you got a flat decline for the CLI at 61 days, that would reset your clock to 91 days, so you'd have two shots at getting the CLI before that first 181 days ever got here. Getting your util down is going to be key in geting you good CLIs on those cards that will matter for you to BT to and get those debts paid.

Oh yeah, the credit steps one I am going to do what they say. The BCP gets the 3X CLI treatment. I know if I touch that ED card it resets the clock on the BCP and I don't want that. I wonder if that is what he was referring to? I don't care about the ED to be honest. My plan is to merge it with the BCP after it builds up if I can.
My biggest concern is my UTIL. I need to make another 5k dent in it before I would feel comfortable about being able to dig my way out. I am trying to go nights at my 40 hour job so I can do something in the mornings before I need to get sleep. A second job, sort of. My business I run is on hold right now because the market is stagnating and I was losing money on it in the end. But, I have no overhead with it so its not like its costing my money daily,

I was focusing on the one with the 500 approval. I think, in the OP's case, that the benefits in waiting the full 181 days is much better than getting one's hopes up and being declined. Also, during that wait, one can build a better history and when that moment comes along, the CLI should be a shoo-in, rather than a maybe.
At a 1k approval myself, I tried at 65 and was turned down. At the time, those on here were saying "nothing to lose, go for it!!!". Nobody ever wants to be declined, so I'll be the only one one on here saying "Use and pay and wait, it'll be better for you in the long run!!!".
After all, this is a marathon, not a sprint.
I see your point. I can't do anything with the ED because of the plan they have it on, afterwards, I will play it by ear. I will do the 3X CLI on the BCP only because I hope to have the room for being declined. In other words, in 60 days I will either be much better off or in Chapter 7. If I can dig out, I won't care about a decline, just trying. Of course, if my score drops, I won't try at all, I'll wait until it rebounds.

I am glad you jumped in like McGyver. Welcome back to the Amex family. I am new myself and love my cards so far. You have been contemplating for a minute. Congrats.
Yes I have. lol. I was nervous about taking the plunge. Glad I did now.

They're not CapOne... There are no "plans" like that, that's the lowest they go. I'm one of those people, now anyways, that would choose the most valuable card to stick with if I had to go the drastic route... Treat AMEX well and they'll treat you well. Also, your score could tank, but as long as you're riding those cards and making regular payments, all that other noise doesn't matter. They're selfish like that
