I am in total shock, my EX hit 635 yesterday and I know that it is low for amex. I recived a mailer to apply (not a pre approval) I got the further review message. Just got an email that I was approved for the Delta gold card with 1K Limit. I'm just so beyond shock, these forums have helped me so much.

I was just approved for an Amex as well and my scores are similar to yours and I was also really surprised. I'm also seeing a lot of Amex approved posts from different people. I can't help but wonder if they have lowered their "standards" in an attempt to beef up their membership, especially with the loss of Costco.

There are a lot of people out there with "fair" credit, and Amex has in the past, not really gone after this market. Wonder if they are now trying.

I did the same day and the application was pending further review then denied, I can't access the reasons online but I will wait for the letter, I'm assuming it is the same reason I got last time "Your Fico score". I find it funny cause the charge cards are said to be easier than the revolvers but I guess that isn't true in every case

Congrats on the approval. You should call to find the reason for the PRG denial and see if you can recon it.

Congratulations! The Delta Gold is a good card for travel.
