Well..... I planned on closing my AmEx card to have one less card to worry about, as I haven't utilized it as much as I had intended upon applying for it back in March; I can't seem to get away from shopping at Walmart/Target for the majority of my grocery needs.
Anywho, I had initially been approved with an SL of 10,000 in mid-march, and decided to submit for the 3x CLI just to see what may happen. I didn't quite get the total 30,000 CL that I had requested for, but they did come back with 24,300. So, I suppose I may keep it open for padding until I can grow the cards that I utilize on a more regular basis.
Congrats first off. It might be tough to get full value out of BCP without the grocery spend. Have you considered buying GC's at your supermarket to vendors you use (amazon, restaurants etc) or gas gift cards? The store I use sells those and I usually will buy a couple for gas or if there are birthdays coming up. The card also offers 3% on department stores which can have value. The other option would be to downgrade to BCE with no AF. Good luck!

I fully intend on downgrading to BCE, but I am waiting until I get full value out of my "one time sign up bonus" of 10% back on restaurants before PCing. I'm pretty sure that it would have continued with the account, not the product, but without 110% certainty I waited it out. I did intend on moving my grocery shopping to places like Homeland/Crest but it's like I autopilot to walmart still haha.
Initially I was going to just close it out because it doesn't get a whole lot of use anymore. But that new CL may be nice padding to have SD'd for a bit while I grow my more commonly used cards.
Lately I've liked the idea of wallet and account management simplicity instead of maximizing rewards. I don't have high enough spend to warrant spreading rewards across 5+ cards to maximize all the categories. I've pretty much gone down to just using my Citi DC as my DD even though there are other 2% cards because I find high value in the price rewind program, and then a Discover IT / Chase Freedom for the rotating 5% categories that may be beneficial. I mainly use the Blispay to put bills on to keep my DC from getting too high of a reported utilization, and for the immediate 2% credit (also of course for larger purchases, if any come up, that I may want to quickly float a balance)
