So, after having burned AmEx during the recession and finally getting everything together, they offered me a Gold Card, but I applied for the Delta Blue - low hanging fruit and whatnot. I've had that since March. I've been good about agressively paying off the $7500 in card debt I have (it was $12k in March when I was approved) and I make several payments per month with the $1000 limit it had.
Blue Card is up to $3000 now. When I was on the AmEx site, I got a popup for a Blue Cash Preferred Card...picked the Gold Card...
Approved for the Gold Card with a "Pay Over Time Limit: $5,000" which I guess is arbitrary and varies.
Then I read on here that you can apply for two AmEx cards on the same day, picked the Platinum Card. Was approved for that. Customer service was happy to take the Gold Card off and just send me the Platinum Card....wow times 3!
WOW
I guess I finally have everything financially together again! Thanks to everyone on this forum for advice and encouragement!
Congrats!
I had an account charge off in 2015, settled with them in 2018. I am hoping to get back in with them next year and also wanting the Gold card.
Congrats to you!
Congratulations!
Congratulations on your approval!
Grats on both and getting your finances in order ![]()
Double congrats !
I would check the pre-approval site once every 3 months, they approved me for the Delta Blue at 660-ish! Limit was $1k but now it's $3k after 6 months of behaving. You'll get there faster than you think. I was in AmEx jail for 10 years because it was just a charge off and not a settlement.
Also I was reading that it can't hurt to apply for two AmEx's in the same day, so I applied for the Platinum Card (why not?) and they approved that! ![]()
I web chatted with their support team and they are only sending me the Platinum Card now!

So how did that unfold?
Btw, congrats!
