AmEx Gold Card approval

I had been debating adding the Gold Card and received a 90k targeted offer today by email, so I pulled the trigger on the application. All reports were frozen at the time, so I am assuming they used the SP info they have due to my other account for confirmation. Yay! Now to remember to put that $4k of spend on the card over the next few months.

Once I have the card in hand, I am considering dropping the BCP down to something without an annual fee and just putting that spend through the Gold Card instead. I'd love opinions on this, if anyone has run numbers.
