I believe there was a 5/24 rule or something similar for this card as ive tried for a number of years to no avail. The only consistency in my profile over those years was the continuation of adding new accounts.
There could be a 5/24 rule, but I have personally never seen anyone denying for this card for this rule. Rather applications were denied for lots of various reasons than this rule alone. I was surprised when I saw many members from this site were approved for this card despite of being 18/24....including some of my best friends.....
Just tried to apply and there is no button to do so

Not saying you are wrong and see that your personal experience is just different than mine. That's what makes these forums so beneficial. Its not a one size fits all model ![]()

I searched for Amazon preapproval and found a link that took me to Amazon where I had to sign in and that gave me the option to check and see if I was pre-qualified. Given my profile of new accounts I would never cold apply for any chase card, co-branded or not. I was even hesitant with pre-qualified-vs- preapproved but I did some searching on Amazon pre-qualified and what sealed it for me was this was the first time that I was actually pre-qualified. Every other time it said I was not.
Congrats on the strong approval!
WOOHOO!! Congratulations on your Approval!!👏🏼🍾🥂
@DanteJuan95 wrote:That's not surprising, considering that their so-called 5/24 seems to be a way to gatekeep people from applying further beyond the 5/24 rule or is it possible that they decide to slowly and quietly abandoned the rul?
@mgood wrote:Yeah, the Prime Rewards card was the first crack in Chase's 5/24 wall. I think Amazon was upset that Chase was turning away customers who otherwise had good credit profiles but were over 4/24 and may have been looking (or threatening to look) at other banks to back their credit card. Chase caved and started approving folks who were 5/24 and more.
Congrats. Very nice SL.
They have not abandoned it, but it may not be the brick wall it used to be.
I know that right after I waited to get down to 4/24 to apply for the CSP, and got approved (January 2023), they started approving a bunch of people, for that card specifically, who were over 4/24. I think there were cases of others getting approved for other cards around that time as well. So it looked like . . . maybe they still considered 5/24 . . . but maybe it was no longer an absolute barrier to approval, just one of many things they consider. They may have tightened back up on that restriction since then. I haven't been paying that close attention.
I do know that being 5/24 used to mean no CLIs from Chase either, but since that time I have gotten at least one, and I think two, CLIs while I was over that limit.
