Amazon Prime

Long time since I posted my own thread, but have purchased a home in October of last year and slowly began to apply for some new cards. I'll include them in another thread to focus on the Prime Day special I got. For context, I already have the Synchrony Amazon store card ($10K CL) and use it quite a bit more than I ever expected. Truly didn't need it, but the $200 credit and pure intrigue of being approved is what got me thinking. Researched much of the conversation about Chase's 5/24 and application towards Amazon Prime card and even after all the approvals I have saw figured I would likely still be denied (currently at 8/24). Tried the pre-qualification on the Amazon site and was flatly rejected and decided it wasn't worth the inquiry to give it a shot. Something hit me this afternoon that perhaps the address used for the pre-qual was incorrect and sure enough after updating to my current address the pre-approval came through. Decided why not and proceeded to the application, filled in a few bits of information and sat with the cursor over the submit button for a couple of minutes before deciding why not. Hit the button, watched the spin and sure enough:

 Full credit limit: $35000.00
Initial credit limit: $5000.00
Purchase APR: 20.74% variable
Within two weeks, your new credit card will arrive by mail in a plain, white envelope. You will be able to utilize the full credit limit after you verify receipt of the card following the instructions in the envelope.

I thought perhaps $10 or $15K for an approval, but wow! Besides waking up this morning definitely the best thing to happen today. Lots of new house things to go buy.

They pulled EX and I think that is now in the upper 700s and as I said had 8 new accounts over the last 24, 9/24 inquiries at the time of application. The APR is higher than I would hope, but not carrying any balances.

Not everyone will have the same luck, but it may not turn out as bad as you may think.

Re: Amazon Prime

Congrats!  They're really handing out generous SLs on these lately.  But it seems the APRs on them are higher... mine is 15.74% right now... I got it 4 years ago.

Thanks. They truly are. My APR showed 19.99% on the application screen, so not sure where the difference is. My profile isn't at it's best, but did feel it was a bit high.
