Congrats on the new card, it was the card that started my journey with Amex.
I've since moved up to the reserve and have 4 other cards, I had the Platinum for a little while but between the gold, aspire and reserve I had no use for it anymore.
Give it about 6 months, make sure to use the card and PIF each month and then have another go at the Platinum card if it is high on your list the outcome might be a little different.
