American Express PRG: Was I approved, declined, or am I in limbo? EDIT/UPDATE: Approved

I pulled the trigger last night for the American Express PRG. I am an existing American Express Everday customer (since Nov 2014).   I got the terrifying further review message and my application status continues to show "in progress."  However, I was alerted this morning that a new inquiry was placed on my Experian credit report by American Express.  Would they have done a hard pull only to decline me?  I tried calling into the new accounts department but there is an automated message indicating that the system they use to provide information is down and to call back at a later time (which I will persistently do).  MyFico Experian as of 01/01/2014 is 727.  11% Overall Utilization on an open credit line of $65,500.  No lates.  5 inquiries on Experian (2 of those are American Express -- one from the opening of my everyday account November 2014 and one from the PRG application 01/01/2015).

I can't provide information about Amex but good luck! I think I have read on the forum that if you are a current Amex holder and apply, you will not receive a HP for denial.

Encouraging feedback.  I'll keep you posted if the status changes or if I hear something.

IF they HP'ed you and you were logged into site under your old account when you applied, then most likely it is an approval...  With your scores too, I woudn't see why they would decline you

Yes, I was definitely logged in under my existing account.  You made me stop and question myself though, but I distinctly remember many of the information fields on the application populating with my info without me having to retype it all in.  Fingers crossed.... I would really like to have this card.

Re: American Express PRG: Was I approved, declined, or am I in limbo?

Hello All!  I was APPROVED!  It seemed like most every system at American Express has been suffering some type of difficulty the past 24 hours so trying to find a number in which someone could help proved to be challenging.  I ended up chatting a CSR online who suggested I try another # which put me through a live person right away, with no wait.  It sounded like an overseas rep. who apologized profusely for the confusion and delay regarding the "IN PROGRESS" message.  (btw, sorry, the previous CSR Chat rep saw that my application for new credit had been submitted -- and as he ended the chat -- he said "congrats on the new card" -- so I knew then I must have made it through the storm).  On any note, the overseas phone rep. verified my social security # and date of birth, and asked to put me on hold.  He did so for about 5 minutes and came back and said that "everything is fine" with my application and that he would expedite it but needed to verify my address to ensure no fraud was being committed.  At this point, I am thinking to myself that he's only referring to an "application" and NOT a new card, so my hopes were somewhat dashed and I felt uneasy.  He said he was going to continue processing the application while we spoke, and not a minute later, he said he had some very good news for me, that I was approved and that, at no extra charge, he'd rush my card to me, and I'd have it within 48-72 hours, or the very latest Tuesday morning (because of the weekend and the holiday).  He was so apologetic for delay.  This is where it gets interesting:  I ended up asking him about my 61 day 3xCLI on my Everyday card which I applied for early (based on the results everyone seems to be getting).  And, he said he said that with my excellent credit he was sure someone could help me figure out what happened and take care of it.  He transferred me to the customer service call center and I was immediately transferred to a foreign rep. with a very thick accent who was extremely unhelpful and to the point and refused to disclose why my CLI was turned down and told me that I'd receive a letter in 7-10 days.  I didn't want to push the issue since I was newly approved for the Amex PRG and didn't want to jeopardize anything.  I'll certainly wait for the letter on my denial for a CLI x3 (Pre-61 Day), however, I am trying to figure out if my account wasn't eligible for the pre-61 day 3x cli or if it was truly a denial for other reasons so that I know when to apply again (on the official 61st day?  or wait 90 days).  Entirely confusing and a little bit disappointing, but overall, I am jumping for joy about the PRG approval, and if I need to wait 90 days for my 3xCLI then so be it, and I'll work with the measely $1k credit line they initially granted me Smiley Happy

Best of luck to you on your pending app.  American Express is full of technical glitches today so trying to get a straight answer from a live person might seem difficult.  Here is the number that I was given by the Chat CSR today.  When I called, I got a live person almost immediately -- I didn't have to enter anything on my keypad or say it by voice:  1-877-399-3083 (it is the New Accounts department).  Hopefully this helps! Good luck!
