So, I've posted before about wanting to get back with Amex. It was a personal goal of mine post BK 7
A few years back, I asked a family member to try adding me as an AU to see if I could backdoor my way in. No dice.
When Amex started doing softpull approvals, I would hit their site every 6 months or so and would always get the "previous bad relationship" decline
I called Amex at one point and inquired about paying them back the money I burned them for and the CSR was nice enough to give me all of the details I needed to do so but I haven't got around to it yet.
Then a few months ago, I got an offer for the Bread Amex from Comenity Bank. I applied and got approved for $8,500
It's not quite what I was hoping for as comebacks go but it's something.
On a whim this evening, I hit the preapproval for the first time in almost a year before bed and, much to my amazement, I was approved for $5k on the Blue Cash Card.
When I signed into the app, it has my original membership date of '99 even.
I am 7.5 years out from BK 7 with scores in the mid 700s and I'm legitimately wondering if the Bread Card got me back in their system enough to unblacklist me.
Congratulations on your approval and getting back in with AMEX!

The Bread card just hard pulled me and they said that because I used a prepaid phone number on my fraud alert they couldn't verify my identity, so no card.

your Comenity account had zero impact, AMEX doesn't know anything about it, it just processes across their network, so that was AmEx being forgiving but regardless CONGRATS!
Congrats on the approval and getting back in with AMEX !
As mentioned above, the Comenity approval had no effect on this, it's not underwritten by AMEX but only uses their network.
How much did you burn AMEX for in your BK7 ?
Congrats on your Amex approval! ![]()

That’s Terrific!! Congratulations on your Approval!!👏🏼🍾🥂
