So I've had an interesting fight with credit over the years. It was really bad around 2006/2007 but I've been slowly but surely building it up organically (didn't find out about this site and tricks to do until about 2 weeks ago). So I finally got the confidence to try my hand at an app spree. Beforehand I only had 2 cards with both CL's at only $1K. I called BoA to ask to increase my CL to $15K and they said they would get back to me within 3 business days so then I felt a bit discouraged becauase saying you'll get back to me for a credit application usually means no (my experience with this was only when I had bad credit from before). Then I called chase for an increase and they upped my CL from $1K to $5K; not bad... But I still wasn't getting the high limits that I thought I could get with my credit and income; but I thought perhaps it's because I only have limited credit card use even though I've had 2 mortgages, a student loan, and paid off a car in the past. SO THEN I'm thinking maube I'll get better results from a brand new card instead of a CLI and that's where Amex Blue Cash Preferred comes in... I called them, gave the lady my info and within a ten minut call I was instantly approved for $8K!!!! I was floored, I've never been instantly approved for a credit card ever!! I would have never thought I could get a card instantly approved with a balance that high. Now I want another one with even higher. My only decision now is to just wait or continue the 'spree' even though the first two were CLI's so might not necessarily count as part of the spree... they were all HP's though so it makes me neverous. Anyway, thanks everyone for the advice and for being a part of my first ever instant approval!!! :-)
Fantastic... Do you have other "new" cards in mind?
Discover, Chase, etc.?

Yeah good question to be honest... At this pint my goal is focused on more and higher credit moreso than it is focused on specific rewards... So I'm trying to figure out which cards will afford me the highest limits. I was thinking about Citi Diamond or CSP as I've heard those can get pretty high limits but they can also be more difficult to get. I also thought about looking into NFCU since my dad used to be in the army many many years ago but for something like that I'm sure they require you to provide proof of your relative being in the military and I don't have any of that documenation close by...
Congrats to your success ![]()
