Amex Bread 2%cb approval trick or treat?

So, there I was, sitting in the garden, minding my own business, until may or June 2023 watching the plants grow slowly and along came an Amex bread 2%cb promo informing me I'm prequalified...

Yes, I took the red pill to see how deep the rabbit hole goes and accepted it, against my better blue pill judgement.

Instant approval for $5000

Hp Exp - 734

Crazy surprised with 6 new accounts in 6 months already.

However, they never sent any emails confirming i was approved. Just a text saying I can add a digital version within 24 hours to Apple wallet, but I dont use apple products so can't confirm that way. The text did repeat the $5k limit, but since I never got an email confirmation,  I have to ask myself if this was a trick and it's going to fall through or if it's a treat and I'll have my new card in the 10 to 14 days outlined after instant approval I can not reaccess.

Has anyone else only received a text but no email confirmation on the bread 2% like that and the approval was genuine?

I didn't used to be paranoid but Truist did that to me last year where they approved me via text and phone. Never sent an email and it fell through as a trick and not treat.

So, I guess I'll just hold off on adding the bread card to my sig until I get better confirmation. :/

Amex often sends out approval emails well after you were actually approved.  As long as you saw a confirmation, it's a treat and not a trick.  Congrats on the approval!  (Also depending on your email provider, you may want to take a look to make sure they didn't flag it as spam or something.)

Really kind of weird experience for me as well.  Called customer service and confirmed approval and 3k line, took about 4 minutes.

Sounds like a real approval to me, congratulations!

If you use a Google Pay or Samsung Pay wallet you might want to try the link anyway, or call Bread to see if that's an option before the card arrives.
