Put a decent amount of spent across the Amex Delta Gold - $20k in 2020, $60k in 2021 and $26k so far this year. Anticipating some int'l travel I applied for the Reserve, hoping to boost miles a bit.
Approved! $15k SL @ 766 Exp (if that's who they pulled...). But they borrowed from Peter to pay Paul. They reduced my Gold from $32.5k to $20k. =(
I called and they confirmed a, "reallocation of limits." Is that normal? I guess overall its a $2.5k increase so I shouldn't complain, but my initial excitement is certainly tempered now. Thoughts / advice?
Congrats on the approval despite the credit reallocation!
Unless there's a reason for you to keep the Gold card, I'd just move its limit to Reserve and cancel Gold.
Grats on your new Delta reserve card ![]()
Its a known practice with Amex, you have hit the limit of credit they will extend so they just moved limit from something else you have with them.
Congrats on your approval

yup
Congrats on your approval.
What is your total Amex exposure? As stated, if they are reallocating your CL you are tapped out for your current income.

Doyou happen to know the income to credit limits ratios for Amex?
Congrats on your Amex Delta Reserve approval . . . I read on another post where Amex approved a new card but reduced the limit on another product. Interesting!!! ![]()
Congrats on your AMEX Delta Reserve approval

imaximous, I think winding down use of the Amex Gold makes a lot of sense.
Before the Reserve approval, it had been 3.5 years since my last credit card application. I've had my eye on a particular card though, and decided last night, that if I could get that card, it would be a good transition to let the Gold rest.
