Been a member since Oct 2014. I remember where I was, the card I got and the SL of the card (Blue cash everyday, 1k SL)
Anyway, I've gotten about 4 or 5 platinum offers in the mail since then. I would look at the offers (most of them were for 125k MR points), but I never applied for the card because I dont travel and I didn't make enough money at the time to justify the (at the time) $450 af.
Well, early last month, I get another offer from amex to apply to the Platinum. The offer was for 150k mr points. 6k spend in 6 months. I still don't travel like at all (at least not by plane) but I do make a lot more money now then I did back when I first became a member.
I sat on that offer for 3 days and decided to go for it.
Instant approval!!
I applied after 6pm on a tuesday. Card showed up by UPS on thursday.
This card has been my dream card for about 5 years but I knew I would need to increase my income before I would consider it and I use it a lot.
That $695 though.
Congratulations! I am also getting the offers several time for more than 2 months now but only for an upgrade from my existing Gold card. After weighing them both, I am not sure I could get most of the benefits from the Platinum card. Even if I re-subscribed some services that I cancelled last time, I don't feel like to subscribe for something I don't even need. Since I am not flying like I used to oversea so it would feel like I am paying more than getting out from it. However, I am hoping you could reap all the cool benefits that offered for you. Congrats again!
Congrats on your Amex Platinum approval . . . yep, that AF of $695 is pretty steep but I accepted the Amex Business Platinum!!!

Congrats! But also it really is a "Travel Card" and since you siad you don't travel by air it's perks outside of that are very limited. The Gold has much better points on dining and groceries and is a much better all around daily driver. But I understand wanting it as I had it since it was an invitation only card (before I lost it and then got it back lol) but that $695 AF does get old lol
Congratulations on your Amex Platinum approval!
