Amex approval --------Sorta

Just apped for USAA Amex Cashback Rewards card and was approved for 2K.  Less than what I had hoped for but it is what it is.  Called back to ask for more and the lady said I would have to call back tomorrow as the credit analysts had left for the day.  Anybody had any luck with USAA getting a boost on the initial CL.

I have never had much luck with them at all.  How long have you been a member?  Is this your first USAA credit card?  All of these things may be used as leverage in obtaining a better limit.

Re: Amex approval --------Sorta

I would wait for a little while (6-9 mos) if you're set on asking them to raise that card's limit and build some rapport with them.  They're a very loyalty driven company, and the better you treat them, they'll usually be more willing to help you out.  Also consider looking at another bank if they're inflexible for you.  Your best bet is to pay multiple times during a month to keep utilization low, and PIF to the max extent possible.

Re: Amex approval --------Sorta

CONGRATS on your USAA AMEX approval!!! I agree about waiting 6 to 9 months prior to requesting a CLI. Either way, let us know how things turn out.
