Amex approved!

First off, long time lurker and first time poster. Many thanks go out to all the wonderful board members who give sound financial advise.

Long story short: I'm a recent grad, 48k on student loans, no late payment history, 8 years credit history, AAoA 2 years 4 months, a best buy citi card with 1.2k CL, Capital One 1K CL and Chase Freedom 600 CL. 706 FICO. No baddies on my CR.

Decided to pull the trigger after gardening for the last couple of years and I have been paying off my CC's now along with my student loans now that I'm out of school. Decided to pull the trigger on a green just to get my foot in the door with amex. Cold app online, instantly approved NPSL.

I do have an amex corporate supplied by my employer, would that have anything to do with my approval?

Thanks again for all the advise! Can't wait for my card to arrive.

Congrats on your approval!!  From reading other threads, go ahead and apply for Delta Skymiles right away and you should be approved with just one HP.

Re: Amex approved!

I got approved for green on Monday though, would they use the same pull or would it count as a separate HP?

Re: Amex approved!

Welcome to the forum and congrats

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Amex approved!

Ugh.  From what I've read, it has to be on that same day right after the other, YMMV.

Re: Amex approved!

That's what I was thinking too. At any rate I'm ok with just the green anyway, I'm looking for an auto loan within the next 3 months when my util drops under 25%. My old car is in its last stretch and I don't want lenders to think I went on a credit app spree.

Re: Amex approved!

Congrats!  See if you can get your new Amex backdated to the Member Since date of your Corporate card.  I just did last week.  Don't say you want it backdated, say you have a card with them and it says Member Since (whatever year you got your Corporate Card) and you were wondering why your new card says 13'.

This seems to be hit or miss with Biz or Corporate to Personal, but I did it last week with seemingly no problem.  I say seemingly bc I got a new card with 11' on it, and my online login says 11', but I won't be happy until it hits my reports as 11', which hasn't happened yet as I just got the card.

I thought the only negative part about doing the double app is on the Delta you wouldn't be eligible for the sign up bonus.  If you wait awhile I forgot how long 90 day 12 months not sure which you can get the Delta and the bonus.  Time is on your side if right now if your just trying to get your foot in the door with Amex.
