Last night, I applied for a Preferred Cash Rewards, and got approved for 5k. Yay 👍
Congratulations. They've finally seen the light ![]()

LOL!! Congratulations on your AMEX Approval!! 🎉🥂👏
Congrats! I was Blacklisted 20 years before I got back in and mine didn't include BK or even owing AmEx money (long story that elsewhere on here). But once back in their good graces I now have 6 AmEx cards, 3 chargers and 3 credit. Feels good to be back in for sure.
Can you share approx how much you owed them previously ? No idea how / when they decide to let people back in who've burned them but you're approved so congrats ! ![]()
Congratulations on your approval!

Just so we have another data point for your approval - did Amex's pre-qualification page give you a positive indication before you applied, or did you just go for it?
Hi LADave, I went to the pre-qual page first, but nothing for me.
Then I decided to apply because as everyone knows, Amex will not do a hp if my app will be denied if I'm still blacklisted.

Thanks pizzadude. It's 20k
Before my bk filing, at the height of the credit crunch, Amex cut my credit lines. Just curious if Amex still do this? If yes, it might not be worth keeping this card open.

I wasn't actually aware of this, but it makes perfect sense (and I'm guessing it's probably an industry practice?).
I burned Amex more than a decade ago, and haven't seen any pre-approvals from them since I began trying several months ago.
I might consider applying again without a pre-approval in the not-too-distant future. Thanks for this info!
How long had it been since you had been on the blacklist. My former wife opened an account after our divorce and it was charged off in 2008. I am wondering if they will still hold that against me.
