I stumbled up on this site looking for advice on a 2% card to replace my Discover card as a DD, and I’ve learned so much since I’ve been here. After tons of hours reading, researching, and I plotted out what I thought were the absolute best cards for kebabs what we’d continue to use for years to come. I knew I’d take a temporary hit on my CR, so I figured I’d see if I could get all the cards I wanted now and go ahead and absorb the hit and let them grow and age. To my delight, I applied for the 3 cards I really wanted, and got all of them with decent limits. I got the AMEX BCP on Monday with $300 SUB offer, and went ahead and got the the PayPal MC with the $50 SUB and BBVA Clear Points with the $100 SUB. I’m going to divert some of my Christmas present/holiday travel spend money to these cards and pick up a cool extra $450.
I got the BCP $10,500 SL and 18.99%, PayPal MC $6500 and 21.74%(the lowest tier), and the BBVA for an awesome (for me) $15.300 and 16.74%.
I have a pretty clear plan of how we are going to use these to benefit maximum cash back throughout next year. We’ll use the Disco fir the 5% categories (when it makes sense), BCP for 3% gas and 6% groceries, BBVA’s 3% category for utilities, and PayPal 2% for everything else. The Summit/Car Care card will basically be SD’d now, but it’s my oldest TL, so I’ll use it occasionally to keep it open and keep the utilization.
My plan now is to spend the next gardening and growing these cards. I do look forward to finding the best ways to make these work for me!

It’s amazing that this is a mini spree by the standards around here, but I’ll take it!
When I first decided I would get a card to help build my credit a couple of years ago I didn’t know what to do, what I really needed or wanted, or what to expect. I applied a Cap 1 Savor and Chase CFU and got told to take a hike both times. I was told by someone that the Summit card was pretty easy to get and I got it with a little $1000 SL, but Sync has been awesome with growth for no more than I’ve spent on it. I have kinda been gun shy about denials since then, so this week has been awesome and is a testament to our hard work to build and boost our credit. (My wife got a Cap 1 Quicksilver this week too!)
I think I’ve laid down a great foundation with cards I won’t regret getting. I feel great having the 4 major cards and being cards that I make work for me. I’ll let these grow a year and maybe try applying for the Reliant 2.5% card in a year or maybe get on Ollo’s radar.

@Saeren Thanks! I appreciate you and others answering all those questions through PM’s and on the board. You guys have given me some great advice and helped me to not make some blunders I otherwise would have.
