App spree results and questions.

It's been a long journey back. All 3 of my reports are clean and I'm over 750 for all 3. That was my goal after dropping into the 300s several years ago. I want to thank everyone here for the awesome help! This place is golden.

A couple of months ago I took an Amex Next Step loan of 25k that allowed me to pay my credit card debt down.

Over the last two weeks I've gotten:

$23,300 CLI on my NFCU cashRewards card.

$20,000 NASA FCU Platinum

$15,000 Chase Fairmont

$10,000 Alliant Platinum Rewards Visa

$1,000 Marvel Mastercard (tried for a CLI and they wouldn't give one)

I was denied for a Lowes Card, Citibank Diamond Rewards, Amex (business card) and I have a Chase Sapphire Reserve app pending (I did in in-branch).

I'm disappointed by the low TL on the Marvel card. I also can't seem to get a CLI on my American Express Blue that I've had for like 10 years (and I've had no late payments). They won't budge when I try for a CLI online (but they gave me a 25k next step loan). I don't get it.

I'm going to garden for a while. I have a couple of questions.

Should I try to get a CLI on my Amex by calling it in? It's such a low TL compared to my other cards.

I do have a Penfed account, but besides them, what credit unions do you recommend? I want to get accounts and sit on them for a while and apply for high limit credit cards in about a year. I sat on my NASA account for over a year before applying for a credit card.

Oh...one last thing, if I'm locked out of chase because of 5/24, what's a good business credit card to go after? Seems like all the goods ones are Amex but I've been denied there.

Re: App spree results and questions.

Do not apply for anything else for at least 6 mopnths or the denials will contioue accererating a dowanward drop in your score. Your really pushing the envelope. Doesn't logic styate if AMEX denied you, don't you think another brand business card will too? Slow down , you look too credit hungry.

AAOA 3 years no lates or missed payments ever. $207,000 total Cl over 12 cards.

I already mentioned in the original post that I was going to garden for a while. But I still want to prep for the next cards..especially the credit unions.

Re: App spree results and questions.

I just saw your question regarding the need for a good business card, glad your going in the garden. You have good limits, I do too. Sometimes when I feel the urge to app, I talk myself out of it by saying do you REALLY NEED a new card? Or am i just just trying to pad utltization? We can pad all we want but eventually your DTL ratio catches up to you, if your paying down debt.

Re: App spree results and questions.

Yeah. I don't NEED another card. However, I would love to keep my utilization at 1% like is now plus actually keep the business expenses separate and use a business card for some of the business purchases instead of putting them on a personal card. If I don't find a good card, I'll just sit in the garden for a while (probably until the end of the year). I definitely don't need more personal credit immediately.

This just makes my head hurt looking at everything going on here....

I was denied for a Lowes Card, Citibank Diamond Rewards, Amex (business card) and I have a Chase Sapphire Reserve app pending (I did in in-branch).

This is a clear sign of not knowing when to stop.

What is your use pattern on the Blue?

See above

I wouldn't consider any right now with your dismal rejections above.  Most CU accounts top out at 25-50K depending on the CU.  Also, HP for CLI's in 99% of the cases.  I'm a fan of CU's over banks though and have 4 accounts with mutliple CU's.

Oh...one last thing, if I'm locked out of chase because of 5/24, what's a good business credit card to go after? Seems like all the goods ones are Amex but I've been denied there.

So, really?!  Yeah, denials are a clue to too much too fast!!!!

Instead of 6 months I would put you on lockdown for at least 12 months to figure out what's going on and how to get where you want to go.  I can't really speak to the business side of the house but, on the personal front you're moving WAY TO FAST to keep going w/o crashing into the wall you hit already.

Calling AMEX isn't going to get you anywhere if you're not using the card at all.  If you're using it then they usually hand out more money like candy.  I usually have a cable bill on mine and autopay each month and they've went from 10K to 50K in less than a year.

Let's start with this and see where we can get you to with some time passing from this shotgun blast of apps.

Re: App spree results and questions.

They weren't instant denials (none). I got letters two weeks later or called in to get a status later. Most of my approvals weren't instant either.

(amex) I've had several times maxing it out and paying in full. I've put small amounts on and paid in full several months in a row. I've not used it for a couple of months. I used it a bit and just the minimal. It's been a bit of everything. It just won't budge.

On the credit unions, I am going to join now and app later. I was a member of NASA for a year and a half before I apped.

Joiing the CU's is going to cost you more HP's and continue the damage.

Instant or not the denials are hinting to you that they're not ready for a big spender.

AMEX.... Most of it comes down to timing if you don't hit them at certain intervals they won't approve a CLI.  Maxing them out doesn't usually sit well with them since they're more conservative when it comes to patterns.  Set a mental limit of 10% and only use up to that for the time being and maybe throw a monthly bill on there and autopay the balance.  What's the EX score they give you online?  Which Blue is it? (Blue, BCE, BCP)  When did you open it? When was your last CLI denial?

The delayed approvals/denials makes me think there's something about your profile like a new profile or fraud alert or frozen reports????

Re: App spree results and questions.

I've had the Amex account since 2010. My current score there is 756.  It's the regular Blue. Last CLI denial was maybe a week ago. I did opt out at Lexis Nexis and couple other data providers but not at the CBs.
