Hello fellow good and bad influences!
Spent some time in the garden this year, like most I guess. Last new accounts were early December 2019- Amex Hilton, Capital One Walmart, and Citi Rewards+. Tried for the Altitude Go mid year and got rejected. Stung a little, but went back into the garden.
I gave in and got the Apple card in early November. $2000 limit, which was annoying considering prior offers (that I declined) were $4500. It's 2020, it is what it is.
I've had my eye on the Amex Gold for years. That $250 fee always made me hold out. Then Amex had the 60k offer PLUS the $250 bonus from Resy. Apped last week and instant approval. This one is an easy daily driver and will sock drawer at least two other cards. Other Amex cards = Honors Hilton $18k limit, Cash Magnet $5k limit (purposefully kept at $5k).
I thought I was done but had a hiccup when going to pay my insurance- they don't like Amex. >.<
Ever hate apped? I know I'm in good company.
Went for the US Bank Altitude Go, since last year's new accounts have aged out. Something like 6/24. Apple card showed up on my TU yesterday, so 1/12 on TU and 0/12 on EQ and EX. Instant approval, $10k. I really like how US Bank now shows you the offer and you can decline if you want. I've had a US Bank Cash+ card for almost two years. CL now at $11k on that one.
Figured since I'm out of the garden I might as well go churning around town. Unfortunately, Capital One said NO on a Quick Silver. I mean I get it, they probably knew what's what. 3 existing accounts- ancient Platinum ($4500), Savor One ($20k), and Walmart card ($8500). About $100 on the Walmart card, Savor card barely used this year, Platinum is never used. They said they would send me a letter and I'm sure it'll say something polite about barely using the $30k limits they've already given me.
Data Points:
797 to 815 FICO8
2 to 5 inquiries
AAoA - 4 years
AoOA - 19 years
$116 TCL across 13 cards
<1% utilization, paid in full on everything
Congratulations on the Apple, AMEX gold & USB. I'm very shocked you did not the the cap1 QS .... given the data points you list below.

Congrats on the approvals!
Would you mind explaining the US Bank part where you said they show the offer now?
Last time I applied for a USB card was nearly 3 years ago. Is it like the Apple Card? SP to make you an offer and then HP if you accept?
Grats to your success
That's great! Congratulations on your approval!
Interesting point @imaximous on the application process. I'd be curious to hear the response too.

Well, they hard pull you first (alerts buzz right away), then the approval page showing spending limit, APR, etc. It has options below the info to accept the card or decline. You get an inquiry right off the bat, but maybe can skip adding a new account if it's not to your liking.

Thanks for the clarification @Anonymous

Gotcha. Wishful thinking that it'd work as the Apple card, but if you can avoid adding an account you don't want, that's still better than 99% of CC apps.
Congratulations
