After posting this morning about the Ritz Carlton offer and seeing how many were getting approved I couldn't resist and applied despite my concerns about being denied for inquiries, short time with Chase and new accounts.
Got the dreaded ten day message which I knew meant denial but I called in just like I had to do with the CSP. Unlike that call where the analyst fairly quickly approved me this one wasn't so 'friendly' and only wanted to read what was going to be sent out in the denial letter which included 'high balances on current Chase products' I told her that was wrong as I had $0 balances on my two cards and low utilization overall. Didn't want to listen and said nothing she could do. Posted on the credit card forum and Nixon and Membersince2013 encouraged me to call right back. Now in the past I would never have called again and lived with the denial as I think most people that don't read these forums would do. Thus I called back and second analyst said denied as well (of course) and broUght up an issue for 1993 about a card that went to collections. The card was a product that chase bought out. I explained to this analyst that this was already dealt with when I applied for the CSP and I thought we were beyond that point. No dice. Denial still but this one did agree to send me to Priority Service at JP Morgan for 'final' decision. Gentleman comes on and I tell him what's going on. He doesn't bring up any of the issues the first two analysts mentioned but that his concern was the number of new cards Ive opened in such a short period because of their concerns about what happens when people do that. We had a nice conversation about why (post divorce) and after putting me on hold for quite awhile he comes back and approves me for $10K.
My advice here is that even when you are shy or reluctant to call after being denied, don't give up and keep trying. Good things happen!
Real solid recon, congratulations! Those points will be much sweeter after the work you put in to earn them.
Congratulations! Good week for you.
Congrats! Thanks for sharing.

Once again, well deserved and congrats to you. I hope you enjoy your new card a lot. I could have easily talked myself out of not taking a risk by apping for this card but I went with my gut feeling and it payed off handsomely.
