Approved Capital One Platinum Pre Qual in Mail!

I know this card isn't much of a big deal, but considering I've had horrible credit for 5+ years and I am just now getting back on my feet...........I'm extremely excited to have my first unsecured card in a long time.

What's more, the mail pre-qual came with no AF, which is typically $19. They couldn't tell me the limit yet. Said I would find out in the mail. My next goal is to get approved for the QS Cap1 card and use these two for the next 12 months to build some solid history.

I haven't pulled my FICO scores...only have FAKOs. They range from 580-651 FAKO. Only FICO score I know of is Equifax 605 (if Discover cc app was correct).

Again, extremely excited. Love the forums and the information it provides.

Re: Approved Capital One Platinum Pre Qual in Mail!

Congratulations! And please don't look at it as not being much of a big deal.....it's a huge deal.  The main reason is because it helps a person like yourself that had credit issues in the past assist in your credit rebuilding.  And for a person like me, that started with no credit history, Capital One has been great.  I think you're doing something right in your rebuilding to get the pre-approval in the mail and so does Capital One or they would not have sent the pre-approval.  Keep it up! Re: Approved Capital One Platinum Pre Qual in Mail!

Update: found out my credit limit! It's more than I thought – $1,000! This is awesome. I thought I would only be eligible for a secured card, let alone $1,000 unsecured. Capital One mail pre quals are real after all! Crossing fingers I get a QS pre qual with no AF or they put a promotion on.
