I was denied and called the recon line. They told me that based on my approval on the Platinum, they would submit that approval to the experts and have them do a manual review. They hard pulled my EX twice, once for each app, which is contrary to what a lot of people say on the forum about the first app being a HP and other applications SP.
I am still waiting to hear back from recon but was told 48-72 hours. Worst case - call in and let them know you were approved for one card but given a wait on the other, and have them look at the first application.

Not exactly what people are saying. Amex very often SPs current cardholders who app for another card, but that's not the same thing as being a brand new cardholder who was just approved.
