@Anonymous wrote:@Anonymous you are awesome! This is very helpful and your past posts are a mine of information to study. I will see if I can follow a similar app pattern to what worked for you.
The citi sp cli is something that I didn't think of. Didn't know it was possible on their secured card so I definitely need to look into it further.@Slabenstein exactly my reasoning. At least building up with credit cards doesn't require changing any existing spend habits, just switching over from using my bank cards to credit cards. Loans is a whole other issue... so as you say, I will enjoy not having a money pit for as long as a I can
@Anonymous: You're welcome! And sorry about that....I got 'graduated' mixed in with the Citi card and was thinking 'card graduated from secured' when I typed that. lol
So the SP CLI won't be available now on a secured card. I also think(?) you would have to wait until 6 months after it graduated from secured before you could even request a SP CLI. I've never had a secured card, just a $500 secured loan to build credit for a year before I tried for my first card.
Slabenstein is definitely one to listen to for credit advice. Just don't EVER play against her in a Star Trek trivia game. I think even the writers would lose!
Congratulations on building your credit profile and being approved for American Express.
Nothing wrong at all with 2K SL.
Congrats on your approval and recent immigration!
That's terrific! Congratulations on your approval!! 🎉🥂
Congratulations on your Amex approval!
You got pre-qualified?. Via AMEX??
or did nothing show up?.
Congrats on getting in the door with AMEX!
I'm impressed that you're in with AMEX so early! $2k is the perfect starting amount, in my opinion. A big enough ceiling to cover an average person's monthly spend on essentials, but not so big that you can get away with risky behaviors without seeing a negative affect on your scores... you're in a good spot! Congrats on the approval

I think that allowing your first card to reach a year in age is a good plan and that a Freedom Flex would likely be a good option at that point. For good measure and a slightly bigger cushion, you might want to do this once your Citi card is 13 months old. Do check Chase's pre-qual before applying, though.
I like the recommendation from @Anonymous to couple the Discover and Chase apps this summer. As with Chase, check Discover's pre-qual first.
Another option might be to apply for Discover in maybe four months and Chase a few months after that. The main thing with Chase (besides being below 5/24) is that your oldest card is at least 12 months old.
Also, because your file looks good, I see no reason not to request a credit limit increase on your AMEX card once it's a little over 60 days old. I'd ask that the limit be raised to 6k. If you haven't yet been there, read the first few pages and the last few pages of The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide.
Congratulations on getting approved for the Amex Blue cash credit card and welcome to Fico boards. First thing you don't need to get any loans just to improve your Fico score. Just put lot spend on the Amex card and pay it off with in couple of weeks don't let it report wate at least 4 months then ask for credit increase you should get at least triple increase to 6K, then wait at least six months then go for another credit increase with Amex then wait to it reports to all 3 cb then go for any of chase creditcards this will give you most bang and largest credit limit with chase.
