Wow!! That's a LOT to spend at Hilton. I think I'll only be doing about $2k - $5k a year. Really depends on how many trips I take, how many miles I earn, etc.
I'm bummed too, because I am going to NYC next month! I am staying at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square and I pre-paid back in February. NNNOOO! I didn't know I'd be switching over to Hilton... I could have earned some MAJOR points had I booked at Hilton.
Even if I try to call the Marriott up and cancel, reserving a room at the Hilton would cost $800+ additional. 
Congrats! They only gave me 2k limit which made bonus spend a little difficult, but I got those 75k points with 3 days to spare
