In a previous post I mentioned that I just got approved for AMEX BCE. Well I really wanted the Chase Freedom so I applied for that as well and was instantly approved! My reasoning was because I figure I get the applications out of the way now so that I have a stronger AAoA as the years pass without having to apply again, upgrade my current cards.
But I do have a question: I have a capital one Quiksilver (awesome rewards btw) but I wanted to get 1 of each of the 4 major cards (visa, mc, discover and Amex) however I don't want more than 4 credit cards. The CO cc is my oldest. I know it's bad to close an account, so how could I go about getting rid of this one to make room for the mc and discover? Do you even think it's worth it? What are the benefits to mc and discover cards? I'm not familiar with them, but I plan on traveling Koreans heard these were more widely accepted (plus I want the variety haha) thanks!
Also, do you think my strategy of getting all of these cards now (4 max) is going to work? Assuming I only need 4 cards, my plan is that if I want another credit card from say, Chase, I can just upgrade or request the other card without the HP or affecting my AAoA. Is that how it works?
NO MORE APPS FOR ME RIGHT NOW haha
CL - $7000
Visa Signature (rep confirmed)
Exp - 692 (do they check Experian)
AAOA - 1 yr and 9 Mos
Baddies - 1 collection from 2012, paid and closed account in early 2013
Inquiries - 3 or 4 (one might be fallen off)
Traveling soon, not Koreans haha
Congratulations

Congratz!
Thanks willwar and jazmar!
Omar, thanks for the advice, ideally I would like for them all to age together but what am I going to do with 5 credit cards? The thought alone scares me! Haha. I don't know how you guys do it. Plus I don't want so many inquiries on my CR right now.
Also, what's "SL"? Lol some of these acronyms I don't get...
Congrats on the approvals! That's a nice SL for a Freedom ![]()
As for getting all 4 types of cards...Visa and MC are the most widely accepted, so honestly your QS is probably fine for traveling; I don't see a need to get a MC. Especially since the QS has no FTF plus good cash back; it's a great option for traveling IMO.
Discover might be more worth getting, especially now since there's the double cash back promo going on. What are your most recent scores? Your sig has scores from 6 months ago so it's hard to gauge what sort of position you're in.

8ottaway,
im assuming SL is starting limit? Thanks and also, my scores are current I just forgot to update the date next to them. You really think I should apply for a 3rd card right now? I just don't know what I'd do with them all...
