The process that followed was slightly different than I remember previously, in that the person at Citi would place me on hold, and then someone else would call on a different line, so I kept getting flash traffic on my phone. This went on for 20 minutes or so, when the last person said you have all green lights, good to go. Great, I'm all set. A couple of days passed, when I recieved an email from Citi, we cannot approve you for credit at this time, the reason being unable to verify identity, Equifax.
I called the number for the credit Manager on the email, who simply stated that she wanted to make certain who I was, as my Equifax file has a note regarding identity theft. It reads no credit is authorized without speaking to me directly at this xxx number. A good way to safeguard your assets I might ad. So the credit Manager placed me on hold, and once again I received flash traffic on my phone, as she called on a different line, after I verified my phone number, then flashed to the first line, telling me I was approved, with a $7500 credit line.
Not huge, but I can remodel several baths for that. I asked why the different lines, if this was something new? She explained it's the best way to confirm one's identity, as there were notes in my credit file. Mystery solved.
